What We Do

What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?

“Occupational therapy (OT) is a science degree-based, health and social care profession, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Occupational therapy takes a “whole-person approach” to both mental and physical health and wellbeing and enables individuals to achieve their full potential. Occupational therapy provides practical support to empower people to facilitate recovery and overcome barriers preventing them from doing the activities (or occupations) that matter to them. This support increases people's independence and satisfaction in all aspects of life.”

What does an Occupational Therapist do?

OTs focus on “occupation” – we define this as the practical and purposeful everyday activities which allow people to live as independently as possible and with a sense of identity. OTs help people of all ages to overcome the effects of their health condition, to carry out everyday occupations – which may include essential day-to-day tasks such as self-care tasks (personal and domestic), work/education or social/leisure activities. We are holistic in our approach, considering physical, psychological/emotional, cognitive, social and environmental factors. We help our clients to engage in and undertake meaningful activities and to develop a sense of purpose using assessment skills and clinical reasoning to achieve the best outcome for the person.

Rehab Jigsaw are an independent provider of OT services, established in 2015 by OTs. Our 2 directors (Lisa, based in Staffordshire and Lynne in Co. Durham) are highly specialist OTs and have a combined clinical experience of 58 years. Lynne and Lisa manage the company and also carry a clinical caseload, as well as co-ordinating delivery of our OT services to our customers with administrative support. We have a team of very experienced OTs working with us across the UK to enable us to deliver OT services to a range of referrers in a timely and cost-effective manner. OT services are provided to the highest quality and ethical standards to ensure that we continue to meet our client’s expectations.
